The new content was made downloadable for consoles, in October 2012, under the subtitle Artorias of the Abyss. A port for Microsoft Windows was also released in August 2012 which featured additional content that was not seen in the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. The game is the second instalment in the Souls series being the spiritual successor to FromSoftware's Demon's Souls. Dark Souls occurs in the fictional kingdom of Lordran where players take up the role of a cursed undead character who begins a pilgrimage to explore the fate of their kind. Dark Souls is an action role-playing game launched in 2011 which was developed by FromSoftware and published by Namco Bandai Games.
